Cyber-security issues need preventative actions.

A lot of people recognize Millionaire Robert Herjavec from his time as a judge on Shark Tank or perhaps his stint on Dancing With The Stars and then followed the story how his dance partner, Kym became his next wife. Herjavec is not only known as a venture capitalist, he is also the Founder of The Herjavec Group which is an IT company that specializes in managing security services.

Herjavec has become a Go To celebrity even when it comes in what some might consider a dry subject as cybersecurity. He has served as a Cybersecurity Advisor for the Canadian Government, participated in the USA White House Summit on Cybersecurity and is a member of the US Chamber of Commerce Task Force for Cybersecurity. I appreciate his comment that “Cyber (security) is no longer an IT conversation; it’s an executive priority” it’s important to have preventative measures in place so that detective and corrective procedures aren’t needed. You can listen in for yourself to Mad Money’s Jim Cramer as he interviews Herjavec on “The Rise of Connected Devices Poses A Real Threat to Cybersecurity” at: https://www.cnbc.com/video/2019/02/05/robert-herjavec-internet-of-things-poses-real-threat-to-cybersecurity.html

In an interview with Journalist John Koetsier, Herjavec said that “Security is unique, inevitably we deal with threats that we didn’t know exist, so we’re always going to have this constant catch-up…that gap of technology that will continue to make security such a difficult industry.” Herjavec goes on to say that “There’s a veil of privacy that the world has broken through that I don’t think is ever going to go away, and I’m comfortable with that.” So as an average Consumer/User of technology, with the advent of the AI driven speakers like Alexa that are tuned in to our every word, self-driving cars, surveillance cameras on many doorways, it’s a comfort to know that there’s companies like The Herjavec Group to help corporations deal with privacy issues.
